1st and 2nd Days - Arrival in the morning, settle into chosen hotel, welcome drink.
For the first two days, follow Itinerary 1, concluding the evening in one of the restaurants in the area.
3rd Day - Go up the Chienti Valley from Montecosaro Scalo along the main road for Macerata. After a few kilometres, there is the Abbey of San Claudio. After this visit, continue along the same road until Sforzacosta (suburb of Macerata). At the crossroads, follow the signs for Sarnano-Ascoli Piceno. After three kilometres, you come across the Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra and the Nature Reserve Abbadia di Fiastria, and after another 2 kilometres there are the remains of the Roman city Urbs Salvia.
After lunch you can choose between two itineraries.
A) From Urbs Salvia return towards Sforzacosta. After about three kilometres, at a fork, follow the signs to Tolentino. Following this beautiful road you arrive in Tolentino, entering the town by the Ponte del Diavolo. Visit the Piazza and the Basilica di San Nicola.
You can then leave the town to go to San Severino Marche, which is the other side of the hill. Visit around the town of the Salimbeni brothers. Departure for final destination.
B) From Urbs Salvia, go towards Macerata and then go down towards the Potenza valley. Following the indications you arrive at Recanati. Visit the town of the poet Leopardi. Then, follow the road leading to Loreto, where you can visit the Basilica della Santa Casa.
During these short drives along country roads, you will be able to enjoy the nature and also admire many examples of rural Macerata architecture, almost always in a good state of conservation. On various occasions, following the signs, it is possible to purchase directly from small agricultural companies genuine products such as wine, like the DOC white wine Òdei colli maceratesi", fruit, oil, eggs, garden and vegetable plants.
